Promethist Watchdog
Logs
<log_root>\2026-08-04\
watchdog.log the supervisor's own log
<app-name>\
app.out.log / app.err.log the app's captured stdout / stderr
events.log launched / exited / crash / freeze / restart
A new day folder is created at midnight; folders older than log_retention_days
are pruned automatically. An app keeps writing to the folder for the day it
started until it next restarts.
One thing is deliberately not in those folders:
<log_root>\network\2026-08-04.csv the internet measurements for that day
Those are kept for years, so they would not survive log_retention_days. They have
their own folder and their own retention. See
Proving the network was the problem.
From the command line
wdog logs kiosk-shell the app's last 50 lines of output wdog logs kiosk-shell --file events why it last restarted wdog logs kiosk-shell --file err -n 200 wdog logs Watchdog's own log wdog logs kiosk-shell -f keep printing new lines wdog logs kiosk-shell --path print the path, for Get-Content -Wait
Use --file events to answer "why did it restart". See
Command line.
