An agent knows only what you teach it. So let's give one some knowledge. In the sidebar, open Knowledge Management.

This list shows the knowledge this project already has. To add more, click Create.

When you do, you first choose the type of knowledge. It can be a file, or a link to a web page. Let's look at the link option first.

If you choose a link, you enter the Webpage URL, and then a type, Static or Dynamic.

A static URL is crawled once, to collect its information. Its content does not change, and no additional links are followed.

A dynamic URL is crawled every time information is needed. Its content may change, and the crawler can follow links several levels deep, to discover new data.

For this example, we will switch back to File. Give it a name, which is also what its reference is created from, and a short description of what it contains.

Then upload your file. Click the upload area, or drag and drop the file onto it. PDF, Word, text, CSV, Excel, PowerPoint and image files are accepted. An image needs readable text in it.

Turn on Global if every agent in the project should be able to use this knowledge. We will leave it off here, so only agents that reference it can use it, and we will connect it to one agent in a moment.

When you are ready, click Add Knowledge.

When it is done, you are taken back to the list, where your new knowledge appears. It is split into parts, so the agent can find the right answer when someone asks.

Now let's connect this knowledge to an agent. Open the agent. When the editor loads, find the Objective, where you tell the agent what it is meant to do.

In the objective, write when the agent should use the knowledge, and then click Reference.

Here you can pick any asset in this project, grouped by type. Under Knowledge Management, choose the knowledge you just added.

The reference appears in the text as a chip, and now the agent knows where to look, even though the knowledge is not global.

Finally, click Save Draft, to keep your changes.
